But I still can't seem to be anle to actually do anything with it,
there are not even commands listed that I could use with operserv.

I read http://irccom.free.bg/irc/services_ratbox.html#4 but most
commands simply yield nothing or e.g.

> operserv< STATS ALL
- -OPERSERV- Invalid command OPERSERV::STATS

What would be the correct command top say become op in a channel named
#needsop?
